What is more typical in Ireland is less common in Scotland. A triple distillation allows the spirit and later whiskey to mature very mildly, which makes Auchentoshan, translated as "corner of the field", very popular, especially with beginners. Auchentoshan Dark Oak matured in a combination of ex Bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez
