The Queen's Police Medal is awarded to police in the United Kingdom for gallantry or distinguished service

Instituted in 1918 at the same time as the AFC this was to reward NCO's and men of the RAF for courage or devotion to duty whilst flying but not in operational areas

representing the defence of the homeland and the blackout during wartime

and in the air against Japanese forces between 8 December 1941 and 2 September 1945
